Cathryn Asip is a television executive, writer, and fiber artist. After half-heartedly picking up crocheting as a pandemic hobby, she soon became obsessed and has since crocheted everything from crop tops and blankets to hooded scarves and hungry caterpillar puppets. She quickly branched out to sewing, embroidery, and knitting. She is inspired by vivid colors, intricate textures, and softness above all else.
By day Cathryn oversees the development of new broadcast, streaming, and interactive content for PBS KIDS. She works with creators from pitch to pilot, helping shape their projects for the PBS KIDS audience. She also serves as a production executive for several current PBS KIDS series, including Phoebe & Jay, Rosie’s Rules, Pinkalicious & Peterrific, and Jelly, Ben & Pogo. In 2024, she was named one of Current’s Rising Stars in public media.
Cathryn is an alumna of Hollins University, a member of the New York Junior League, and a patient advocate at her local hospital. She lives in Brooklyn with her beautiful girlfriend, an evil kitty cat, and a robot vacuum cleaner.
